FAST FACT

The Vaqueros have had only two losing seasons since 1975 and have won 132 games in that span.

OUTLOOK

As always, the Vaqueros have no shortage--in size or numbers--at the strength positions. They have two massive bodies (Cook and Bell) and plenty of muscle on both lines. But Cicuto said unproven quarterbacks and an inexperienced secondary will be weaknesses Glendale needs to overcome to challenge for the North Division title. Also, the running game will be without Pathon Rucker, second in the state in rushing last season with 1,684 yards. Rucker is at Emporia State in Emporia, Kan. His main replacement most likely will be Valencia, who sat out most of the 1993 season because of a broken arm. Zilberman, although small, can get the job done in the backfield.
