Paced by two touchdowns from Edon Kagasoff and a strong defensive effort, Newport Harbor dominated visiting Ocean View, 28-0, in a nonleague game in front of 1,200 Friday night.

Kagasoff, who scored on runs of seven and 44 yards, led all rushers with 57 yards in six carries.

Defensively, Bill Johns and Dan McDonough frustrated the Seahawks, extending the Golden West League team’s losing streak to 31 games, currently the state’s longest.

Johns finished the night with two sacks for Newport Harbor.

“We got a little sloppy at times,” Sailor Coach Jeff Brinkley said. “We definitely weren’t as crisp as last week.”

The Sailors (2-0) took command early, driving 65 yards in 10 plays on its first possession, eventually scoring on a one-yard run by Brian Johnson.

Ocean View (0-2), which was held to only three total yards offense in the first half, opened the second half with its only substantial drive. The Seahawks used 16 plays to advance to the Sailor 32-yard line before Johnson intercepted a Ted Norman pass in the end zone to end the threat.
