Courtney Owens

Calvary Chapel, Senior

Volleyball/Outside hitter

A four-year starter, Owens is Calvary Chapel’s most dangerous hitter, but she isn’t the Eagles’ only weapon. Owens had 23 kills in a 13-15, 15-8, 15-13, 15-10 victory over Bakersfield Centennial in the title game of the Redondo tournament. Jenny Roberts had 16 kills and Sara Roberts had 14. But Calvary Chapel Coach Jim Downey said Owens is also an outstanding passer and defensive player. “She can control the game with her ball control,” Downey said. “And she had at least 20 digs against Centennial.” Owens, who is being recruited by UC Santa Barbara, Colorado and the University of San Diego, also had a strong performance in the Eagles’ four-game victory over Los Alamitos in the semifinals.
