OUTLOOK

The Aztecs would like to challenge for the their third league championship in four seasons, but they will be without sharpshooting guard Mike Thimgan. “He helped us win two league titles and finish second one year,” Hill said. “He’s tough to replace. But we do have a dominating player.” Hill said Greer will be among the county’s best. The 6-7, 230-pound junior is a force in the post, and Hill said his perimeter game has also improved. Omer is back to start at the point, and his play will be also be key to Esperanza’s success. Lim provides good shooting from three-point range, but more importantly he is the team’s best defensive player. “This team has great chemistry,” Hill said. “The kids all get along with each other. We also have depth. A number of guys will push for starting spots.” Tape and Butler are among those players, and four underclassmen will also push to play more, including Gaulden, a 6-4 freshman. Gaulden’s brother, Sean, is a 6-7 sophomore who could also make an impact.
