If this keeps up, everyone will start skipping practice.

Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, fined by the Denver Nuggets for missing Thursday’s workout, scored 31 points as a reserve--including five three-pointers--as the Nuggets won their fourth in a row, beating the Washington Bullets, 111-89, Saturday night in Denver.

Abdul-Rauf’s exploits overshadowed the reunion of three-fifths of Michigan’s Fab Five--Jalen Rose, Chris Webber and Juwan Howard.

Rose had a career-high 14 points for Denver. Webber had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Howard had only four points for the Bullets.

“You know how they say when you’re in a zone,” Abdul-Rauf said. “This was one of those games.

“It feels good. It’s been a long time since I’ve played this many minutes. My shots were falling and guys were looking for me.”

Milwaukee 106, Chicago 103--Rookie Glen Robinson’s three-point play with 5.3 seconds remaining lifted the Bucks to a victory over the Bulls in Milwaukee, snapping a nine-game losing streak.

It was the first game-winning play for Robinson, the top pick in the June draft. He finished with 18 points in his first game against the team he rooted for while growing up in Gary, Ind.

B.J. Armstrong had 21 points for the Bulls.

Orlando 109, Atlanta 98--Shaquille O’Neal dominated at both ends of the floor, scoring 33 points and grabbing 13 rebounds to lead the league’s hottest team, the Magic, to a triumph over the Hawks in Orlando.

The victory was the 13th in 14 games for Orlando, which improved the league’s best record to 15-3.

Hakeem Olajuwon led the Rockets with 20 points. David Robinson scored 18 points and had 11 rebounds for the Spurs.

Dallas 99, Charlotte 86--Jamal Mashburn scored 31 points and Jim Jackson added 20 as the Mavericks beat Charlotte for their ninth victory of the season--a total they didn’t reach until April 5 last season.

Alonzo Mourning had 20 points and Larry Johnson 19 to pace the Hornets.

Detroit, which lost its sixth consecutive road game, had only nine players--and only one of its top five scorers--in uniform. Lindsey Hunter (broken ankle) and Oliver Miller (broken hand) were placed on the injured list earlier in the day, and Joe Dumars (bronchitis) and Grant Hill (flu) did not make the trip.

Detroit’s Allan Houston, starting for the first time this season, scored a season-high 28 points.
