In other quarterfinals of the Irvine World News Tournament:

Estancia 68, Palos Verdes Chadwick 39--Zack Richardson had 14 points and Dane Plock added 12 for Estancia (7-1). Todd Ammons had 14 points to lead Chadwick (3-4), which plays Woodbridge on Friday at 7:30 in a semifinal game.

Santa Ana Valley 97, University 65--Michael Riggins had 25 points and Robert Martin had 19 to lead Santa Ana Valley (5-4). Stephen McKee had 18 points for University (3-4). Santa Ana Valley plays Trabuco Hills at 7:30 Friday at University High.

Trabuco Hills 67, Irvine 44--Nick Punto and Jonathan Paisley scored 12 points each to lead Trabuco Hills (6-1). Darrell Parker scored a game-high 18 points for Irvine (2-6).

In quarterfinals of the Sonora Tournament:

Sonora 68, Whittier Christian 40--Chad Fister scored 23 points and Craig Clark added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Sonora (5-2), which advances to play Century on Friday in the semifinals.

In the second round of the El Dorado Coed Classic:

El Dorado 57, Canyon 36--Robbie Sammons had 15 points and Dan Simonsen scored 14 to lead El Dorado (6-2). Ryan Walker paced Canyon with 15 points.

In nonleague boys’ basketball:

Brea-Olinda 58, Covina West Covina 50--Madhad Boddula had 16 points and Brian Seaton added 14 for Brea (6-3). James Headen had 21 points to lead West Covina.

El Toro 54, Laguna Hills 48--Scott Hall scored 25 points and Travis Senik added 20 for visiting El Toro (4-4). Mike Scaglione scored 19 points for Laguna Hills (6-1).

Katella 65, Anaheim 35--Mike Pahl scored 20 points and had 13 rebounds and LaByron Clayton added 17 points for visiting Katella (8-0).

Magnolia 59, Loara 41--Donald Benjamin scored 13 points to lead visiting Magnolia (4-3). Tony Moss scored a game-high 15 points for Loara (4-4).

El Modena 61, Buena Park 57--Brian Vilmer’s game-high 22 points led El Modena (5-3). Towan Oliver scored 17 points and had 14 rebounds for Buena Park (4-5).

Paramount 56, Bolsa Grande 40--Travis Weathers had 12 points to lead Paramount (3-5), who outscored Bolsa Grande 22-8 in the second quarter to blow the game open. David Price had 20 points to lead Bolsa Grande (4-4).
