A week after blowing a halftime lead and losing to Redlands, Chapman put away the Bulldogs in the second half, and won, 77-57, in a nonconference men’s basketball game Saturday at Chapman University.

The Panthers (5-3) led by six at the break, but outscored Redlands, 30-21, in the first 12 minutes of the second half to put the game out of reach.

In a game at Redlands on Dec. 10, Chapman had a five-point halftime lead but was outscored, 34-7, in the first 10 minutes of the second half and lost, 87-80.

But behind Stefan Mumaw, the Panthers were able to turn things around, as the 6-foot-8 center had 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Mumaw had 15 of his points in the first half as Chapman led by as many as 11 before Redlands’ Steve Reed hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to make it 37-31.

The Bulldogs cut Chapman’s lead to 39-37 four minutes into the second half, but three-pointers from Anthony Gonzales and Jeff Reeves put the Panthers ahead by seven with 12:20 to play.

Redlands never got closer than six the rest of the way and Chapman built a 65-50 lead on consecutive baskets from Corey Klinke, who finished with 11 points.

Adam Dzierzynski, who scored 31 against Redlands last week, was held to eight points but he had 12 assists.
