SEASON AT A GLANCE: The three-year varsity performer who played No. 1 singles the past two seasons finished 21-0 and won the City Section singles championship. A powerful and athletic serve-and-volley player, Feldman finished 48-2 at Taft. Feldman upset defending champion Kendra Segura of Dorsey, 6-4, 6-0, for the the title that had eluded her the two previous seasons. Feldman’s losses came in the 1993 City semifinals to Segura and the 1992 final to former teammate Brahna Pastorini. “I wanted this really bad,” Feldman said. “I’ve been wanting to win this for the last three years.”

THE REST OF THE TEAM:

Monique Allegre, Camarillo, Sr., reached the semifinals of the Southern Section tournament two years in a row and was chosen Marmonte League MVP. Darian Chappell, Camarillo, So., was 29-4, 21-0 while leading the Scorpions to the Marmonte League championship. Kristin Dickey, La Reina, Fr., finished 33-3 and was the only Regent to sweep three sets in a victory over Nordhoff for the Southern Section Division V championship. Helena Horack, Westlake, Fr., finished 51-11, recording 11 sweeps in 17 matches, and was All-Marmonte League. Jessica Improta, Rio Mesa, Sr., had a 36-7 record and was All-Channel League three times. Ravid Levy, Taft, Sr., helped the Toreadors win the 1993 City Section championship and had a 30-0 regular-season record over the past two years: 18-0 in singles, 12-0 in doubles. Romy Mehlman, Harvard-Westlake, Sr., went 41-4 this fall, winning 29 sets by 6-0 scores. Deborah Pepkowitz, Calabasas, So., carried a 51-9 record while the Coyotes played one of the toughest schedules in the area. Zuzana Stunova, Rio Mesa, So., an exchange student from the Czech Republic, finished 36-3 and reached the quarterfinals of the Southern Section tournament, where she lost to No. 1-seeded and eventual champion Amanda Basica. Shera Weigler, Calabasas, Jr., amassed a 53-7 record and was MVP of the Sunshine League.
