PREP ROUNDUP : Zavala Leads Los Amigos to Victory

Carmela Zavala scored 17 points to lead Los Amigos over Bolsa Grande, 46-36, in a Garden Grove League girls’ basketball game Wednesday at Los Amigos.

Zavala’s points included three three-pointers. Tofi Togogae added 12 points and had 15 rebounds for Los Amigos, which improved to 6-9, 2-3 in league.

In other Garden Grove League games:

Pacifica 70, La Quinta 21--The Mariners (6-11, 4-1) had five players score in double figures for the victory. Amy Rummel scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds. Erin Kiyomura and Jaymee Pendergast each scored 11 and Heather Green and Holly Pawlowski had 10. Tina Shum scored 14 points for La Quinta (0-17, 0-6).

In the Academy League girls’ basketball:

Connelly 47, St. Margaret’s 29--Jennifer Samson scored 17 points and had five assists for Connelly (4-6, 2-1). Georgina Cervantes added 12 and Shannon Boardman had six steals, eight rebounds and four points for the Koalas.

In Olympic League girls’ soccer:

Capistrano Valley Christian 1, Connelly 1--Nidhi Lal scored for Connelly (0-2-1 in league) and Amy Ross scored for Capistrano Valley Christian (3-3-1, 0-1-1).

In South Coast League wrestling:

San Clemente 48, Mater Dei 16--With six pins in the meet, San Clemente handily defeated Mater Dei. Kevin Means started the series of pins at 103 pounds beating Mater Dei’s Arron Chase in 1 minute 29 seconds.
