San Jose State has received oral commitments from two area football players, St. Margaret’s quarterback Bobby Masters and Woodbridge punter Jason Chapple.
The Spartans recruited Masters (6 feet 3 1/2, 185 pounds) to play quarterback, said his mother, Karen Masters.
Although the Tartans finished 2-5, Masters was named Prep League MVP and earned first-team All-Southern Section eight-man division honors.
Chapple, a second-team All-Orange County selection, also was recruited by Arizona State, Oregon and San Diego State, said his mother, Nancy Chapple.
