Share

Police on Monday were searching for carjackers who stole a car at gunpoint outside a supermarket Sunday night.

The victim and a friend were standing near the car in the parking lot of the Woodbridge Village Center on Barranca Parkway when three teen-agers confronted them, said Police Lt. Sam Allevato. One of the youths, wearing a mask, brandished a small-caliber revolver and demanded the keys, Allevato said.

Car owner David Brunn, 21, of Irvine complied, and the three teens got into the car and drove away, Allevato said.

No one was injured in the 8:25 p.m. incident, Allevato said.

The stolen car is a 1994 Honda Accord, metallic-green with license plate RU1UVUS, Allevato said. Witnesses described the gunman as Latino, 16 to 18 years old and about 5 feet 6, with a thin build. He wore baggy pants and a black sweat shirt, Allevato said. Witnesses told police the other two were about the same age, with shaved heads.
