30th Consecutive League Victory

The Woodbridge girls’ basketball team won its 30th consecutive Sea View League game with an 83-23 victory over Santa Margarita Friday night at Woodbridge.

The streak extends over three years. With the victory Friday night, the second-ranked Warriors are 20-1 and 6-0, the 12th consecutive year they have posted 20 or more victories.

All five Warrior starters scored in double figures. Erin Stovall scored 16 points, Melanie Pearson added 13 points and had eight steals and five assists.

Angela Burgess and Krissy Duperron each scored 11 and Tami Weaver added 10.

In other Sea View League games:

El Toro 37, Corona del Mar 33--Janell Jewett paced El Toro (7-12, 2-4) with 16 points. Lindsay Warmington had nine for Corona del Mar.

Newport Harbor 77, Irvine 34--Mary Anderson scored 16 points for the seventh-ranked Sailors (16-3, 5-1). Andree Verhulst added 11 points, seven assists and five steals.

In the Garden Grove League:

Garden Grove 63, La Quinta 38--Janine Shah scored 12 points and April Boose added 10 for Garden Grove (12-7, 8-1). Thuy Dao scored 14 for La Quinta (0-20, 0-9).

Pacifica 54, Santiago 43--Holly Pawlowski scored 15 points for host Pacifica (9-12, 7-2). Angie Ching-Sam led Santiago (9-12, 4-4) with 26 points.
