BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : By George, Littlerock Knocks Off Palmdale

John George had 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Littlerock High boys’ basketball team to a 65-57 upset of Palmdale in a Golden League game Tuesday night at Palmdale.

The loss snapped the Falcons’ 25-game league winning streak.

Littlerock (13-8, 4-3) was the last team to beat Palmdale (16-6, 6-1) in a league game, two years ago.

Santa Paula 90, Calabasas 80--Eleven players scored in double figures in a Frontier League game at Calabasas.

Ben Tryk led Santa Paula (19-2, 6-1) with 24 points, and Danny Herrera and Chris Cannon each scored 19. Calabasas (7-13, 3-4), which made seven three-point baskets in a 35-point fourth quarter, was led by Noel Bloom with 27 points and Ryan Coleman with 23.

Highland 63, Quartz Hill 58--Jamal Dedeaux scored 26 points to lead Highland (14-6, 3-3) in a Golden League game at Quartz Hill. Brad Hazard scored 21 points to lead Quartz Hill (4-15, 0-7). Teammate Aaron Brown added 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Santa Clara 75, Malibu 42--Lukman Dotson and Kevin Collins each scored 16 points to lead the Saints (14-6, 7-0) in a Frontier League game at Malibu.

Hart 48, Saugus 44--Hart (12-11, 5-4) outscored Saugus, 14-7, in the fourth quarter, holding the Centurions to one field goal and making 10 of 11 free throws. Mike Posey had 18 points and Nick Lewandowski added 16.

Canyon 96, Burroughs 68--Greg Minor scored 41 points in a Foothill League game at Burroughs.

Brian Connelly added 16 for the Cowboys (11-8, 5-4).

Village Christian 55, Marshall Fundamental 51--David Gustafson had 27 points and 12 rebounds and scored six of eight points in double overtime for the Crusaders (13-6, 6-0) in an Alpha League game.

L.A. Baptist 63, Maranatha 56--Russ Brumpton scored 21 points and Ara Veney had 12 assists for the Knights (14-6, 5-1) in an Alpha League game at L.A. Baptist.

GIRLS

Moorpark 38, Nordhoff 37--The Musketeers outscored Nordhoff, 10-1, in the fourth quarter at Moorpark to snap the Rangers’ 23-game Frontier League winning streak that dated to 1991.

Tara O’Donnell made a three-point shot with one minute to play to give Moorpark (11-5, 4-3) the lead and there was no further scoring. Erin Baker scored 17 points to lead Nordhoff (13-7, 6-1).

Newbury Park 70, Westlake 36--Jann Thorpe scored 16 points for the Panthers (21-1, 11-0) in a Marmonte League game. Katie Spayde scored 14 points for Westlake (8-15, 5-6).

Calabasas 43, Santa Paula 41--Melissa Krolik took a pass from Eryka Skore and made a shot at the buzzer to give the Coyotes (12-5, 5-2) a Frontier League victory at Santa Paula.

Notre Dame 51, Harvard-Westlake 26--Maggie Dixon had 19 points, 14 rebounds and six assists in a Mission League game, leading Notre Dame (15-5, 6-1) to a school record for victories in a season.

Louisville 44, Chaminade 42--Sophomore guard Becky Witt made two free throws with two seconds to play, giving the host Royals (9-10, 3-4) a Mission League victory.

Adriane Bilek scored 13 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had five blocked shots for Louisville. Shawnte Mitchell scored 15 points to lead Chaminade (10-8, 3-4).

Hart 69, Saugus 40--Hart shot 57% and Jaime Broneer had 11 points, six assists and five steals. Hart (17-5, 8-1) is in first place in the Foothill League.

Buena 70, San Marcos 36--Eboni Conley scored 17 points, had eight steals and six assists to lead the Bulldogs (16-2, 10-0) in a Channel League game at San Marcos.

Palmdale 67, Littlerock 33--Kristi Rose scored 19 points and Monique Nolan posted 18 to lead Palmdale (17-3, 7-0) to a Golden League victory at Littlerock.

Oak Park 67, St. Bonaventure 49--Alisha Valavanis had 24 points and Alexa Valavanis added 13 in a Tri-Valley League game at Oak Park.

Grant 59, Reseda 42--Reseda’s Lashonda Holland had 30 points, but Grant Coach Steve Brumwell celebrated his 200th victory. Brumwell’s record over 13 seasons is 200-123.

WOMEN

Cal Lutheran 107, La Verne 102 --Kelli McCaskill scored 38 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as Cal Lutheran (18-0, 6-0) won its 20th game in a row in double overtime.
