COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Bretsch Drives in Winning Run for Chapman

Jason Bretsch’s single with two outs in the 10th drove in Matt McCready with the winning run to give Chapman a 12-11 victory over Biola in a nonconference baseball game Thursday at Chapman.

The Panthers (1-5) scored six runs to tie the score in the ninth, led by Jason Moeller’s three-run double. Donny Disbro had five runs batted in for Chapman. Raul Guzman pitched the 10th to earn the victory.

In other nonconference baseball:

Southern California College 14, Menlo 12--The Vanguards rallied from a 10-3 deficit as Scott Slagel had three hits and Josh Sewell and Mike Grasse hit home runs. Rick Humotoff pitched five innings of relief to get the victory for SCC (3-4).

In nonconference softball:

Southern California College 3-1, CS Dominguez Hills 2-5--Jen Caruso went two for two with two RBIs and scored the tying run in the first game for Southern California College (5-3). Amy Lewis doubled in the go-ahead run for the Vanguards.

In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s tennis:

Southern California College 9, Biola 0--Quynh Le won 6-0, 6-0 at singles for host SCC (3-1, 1-0), which lost only one set. Le teamed with Wendy Andel to win at No. 1 doubles, 6-1, 6-0.
