Passenger Killed as Car Hits Building

A woman riding in the passenger seat of a car was killed early Sunday when the intoxicated driver crashed into a building, Los Angeles police said.

The driver, Christian Eugenio Sanchez, of North Hollywood was injured in the accident, which occurred at 1:30 a.m. in the 3400 block of Lankershim Boulevard. He was taken to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where his condition was listed as stable.

Sanchez has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter, police said.

Sanchez was driving a late-model Mercedes Benz north on Lankershim when he lost control of the car and crashed it into a wall near Universal Studios. No other vehicles were involved in the accident, police said.

The name of the female victim was not released.
