Murdent Named Player of Year

Julie Murdent, Golden West’s all-time leading scorer, was selected as the State women’s basketball co-player of the year by a vote of coaches.
Murdent, a forward who averaged 21 points and nine rebounds, was picked along with Juarte Zukauskiate of Merritt. Murdent also was selected as the Orange Empire Conference player of the year this season.
Sara Works, a sophomore forward from Cypress also was selected to the first team. Deana Itow of Golden West and America Robledo of Orange Coast, both sophomore guards, made the second team.
