PREP BASEBALL ‘95: PREVIEW : Orange League
Coaches: Dave Torres, Anaheim; Steve Hiskey, Brea Olinda; Manny Rodriguez, Magnolia; Hack Mitchell, Savanna; Mike Scheetz, Valencia; Robert Harrison, Western.
Facts and Figures: Brea Olinda returns most of its pitching staff, led by Steve Trombly (10-1, 1.89 ERA), which makes the Wildcats a threat to repeat as league champions. . . . . Savanna, too, expects its pitching to be a strength, with Russell Hartman (4-3, 2.85) leading the way. . . . . Valencia, which tied for the league title last season, has experience everywhere except pitching. Joe Secoda (.356) and Justin Averitt (.315) will have to carry the Tigers early. . . . Anaheim should be better after some tough seasoning last year; seven of its 10 league losses were by one run. Enrique Mejia (3-0, 4.12) is expected to be the Colonists’ top starter.
