BOYS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Crenshaw Rally Beats Nogales

Ray Palmer scored seven of his 10 points during the final three minutes to lift Crenshaw to a 79-69 victory over La Puente Nogales in a Division I Southern Regional first-round game Tuesday night at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

With 3:45 to play, Nogales led, 62-61, but a layup by Palmer with 2:59 remaining put the Cougars back on top for good.

Ronnie Arch scored 21 points to lead Crenshaw (25-5).

Shomario Richard scored 27 points to lead Nogales (26-5).

Fairfax 52, Rancho Buena Vista 51--Duane Davis made a free throw with three seconds to play to lift Fairfax (24-6) in a Division I game at Rancho Buena Vista. Davis led the Lions with 18 points and Jair Fray added 14.

Jamahl Mosely scored 24 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter, for Rancho Buena Vista (23-7).

Compton Dominguez 87, Bakersfield Highland 55--Guard Tommy Prince had 21 points and five steals and Jason Thomas had 17 points to lift the Dons (30-2) over the Scouts (22-5) in a Division II game at Dominguez.

Oceanside El Camino 77, Tustin 57--Doug Gottlieb scored 22 points for Tustin (28-3), but El Camino (29-2) got the victory at El Camino.

Pasadena 59, San Diego Scripps Ranch 49--Gordon Scott made six of six free throws in the last 2:12 to seal a Division II victory for the Bulldogs (25-6) over Scripps Ranch (25-7) at Pasadena.

Lakewood Artesia 75, Fresno Central 31--Deandre Moore, a freshman point guard, scored 14 points and had nine assists and five steals to lead the Pioneers (27-3) over Central (17-9) at Artesia.
