PREP SOFTBALL ROUNDUP

In the Garden Grove League:

Pacifica 7, Rancho Alamitos 0--Amanda Freed (4-0) allowed one hit and struck out 12 for host Pacifica (6-1, 1-0). Valerie Downen had three hits and two stolen bases and Andrea Pickett added three hits, two runs batted in and a run scored for the Mariners.

In a nonleague game:

Whittier Christian 3, Sonora 2 (8)--Sophomore Melissa Blank singled to drive in Monique Galaviz in the top of the eighth for the victory for Whittier Christian. Sonora rallied in the bottom of the seventh, scoring two runs. Blank also tripled and drove in a run in the fourth for Whittier Christian (2-4).

Catcher Leah Borders threw out two runners trying to steal second and caught another in a rundown for Whittier Christian.
