HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL ROUNDUP : Oxnard Has No Hits, No Luck Against Eckberg

Ventura High’s Alisha Eckberg pitched a no-hitter as the Cougars defeated Oxnard, 1-0, Friday in a Channel League game at Ventura.

Eckberg (3-5) had two strikeouts and two walks for Ventura (3-7, 3-3), which scored when Camille Minkel reached base on an error in the bottom of the seventh inning and scored on another error by the Yellowjackets.

Eckberg outdueled Anissa Velasquez, who pitched a three-hitter and had 10 strikeouts for Oxnard.

Hart 10, Burroughs 0--Anna Nordhagen had three hits and a run batted in and Kellie Nordhagen had two hits and an RBI for the Indians in a Foothill League game at Hart.

Mary Colleran (10-1) allowed three hits and had four strikeouts for the Indians (11-2, 2-0).

Saugus 14, Burbank 5--Chris Gill had five hits, including two doubles and drove in three runs for the Centurions (9-3, 3-0) in a Foothill League game.

Jill Passafiume added four hits and scored three times for Saugus.

Burbank (2-9, 0-2) scored all of its runs in the seventh inning.

Village Christian 1, Maranatha 0--Jessie Leivos’ single drove in Shandra Mahaney with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning for the Crusaders (9-4, 4-2) in an Alpha League game.

Village Christian pitcher Jackie Arnada (5-1) didn’t allow a hit for 7 2/3 innings. She finished with a one-hitter, striking out 16 and walking three.

Santa Clara 6, Malibu 0--Sophomore Darlene Duarte pitched a no-hitter, striking out five and walking none for the Saints in a Frontier League game at Santa Clara.

Two errors deprived Duarte of a perfect game.

Necie Madrigal hit her first home run to lead off the third inning for Santa Clara (4-6, 4-3).

Alemany 1, Chaminade 0--Melissa Piembotti drove in Regina Yuhasz with a first-inning single for the Indians (15-1, 3-0) in a Mission League game at Alemany.

Sophie Contreraz pitched her 10th shutout of the season, allowing two hits and no walks.

Antelope Valley Christian 4, Apple Valley Christian 0--Junior right-hander Dawn Miranda (6-4) pitched a one-hitter, striking out nine and walking none in the Agape League game.
