HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Westlake Diver a Big Splash at Marmonte Meet

Tracy Thall, a Westlake High junior, broke her school record with 422.30 points to win the Marmonte League girls’ diving finals Friday at the Rancho Simi Park Community Pool in Simi Valley.

Dory Apgar of Thousand Oaks was second with 399.15 points.

Charles Law of Newbury Park won the boys’ title with 389.45 points. Scott Oliver of Westlake was second with 329.95 points.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Calabasas 13, Nordhoff 5--No. 1 doubles team Brandon Parker and Alex Wan swept three matches in the Frontier League match for the Coyotes (14-5, 7-0).

Harvard-Westlake 15, Crespi 3--No. 3 doubles team Eli Taban and Wilton Park won three of matches for the Wolverines (12-1, 7-0) in a Mission League match.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Village Christian d. Valencia, 15-1, 15-2, 15-4--Kiko Banos had eight aces and Todd Gingell had three kills and two blocks as the Crusaders (14-0, 8-0) defeated the Vikings in an Alpha League match at Valencia.

Thousand Oaks d. Agoura, 15-12, 15-11, 15-8--Scott Sheridan had 13 kills and Brandon Marsh had 40 assists as the Lancers (9-3, 9-3) downed the Chargers in a Marmonte League match at Thousand Oaks.

BOYS’ TRACK

Kennedy 74, Cleveland 53--William Anderson won the mile in 5:01.1, the two mile in 11:07.4 and the 880 in 2:15.2 for the Golden Cougars (6-1) in a Northwest Valley Conference meet at Cleveland.

GIRLS’ TRACK

Cleveland 78, Kennedy 40--Satin Lewis, competing for the first time this season, won the 110-yard high hurdles in 17.4 seconds, the 330 low hurdles in 51.5 and ran a leg on the Cavaliers’ victorious mile relay team in a Northwest Valley Conference meet at Cleveland.

Julie Lynn (mile and two mile) and Neisha Henderson (long jump and triple jump) also won two events for the Cavaliers (2-5).

Taft 68, Chatsworth 50--Tynisha Howz won the 220-yard dash in 27.7 seconds and the 440 in 1:04.8 to pace the Toreadors in a Northwest Valley Conference dual meet at Taft. The victory kept Taft (6-1) in second place behind undefeated Birmingham in conference. Chatsworth is 5-2.

SOFTBALL

San Marcos 7, Ventura 0--Jenny Hehnke and Kim Oliver helped put the Royals (15-3, 9-1) on top in a Channel League game at Ventura.

Hehnke had three hits and drove in a run. She also struck out seven.

Oliver had two hits and two RBIs.

Freshman Camille Minkle (0-3) took the loss but had two hits for the Cougars (3-11, 3-7).

Louisville 7, Notre Dame 4--Shannon Joyce’s two-run triple in the second inning sparked the Royals (7-7, 3-2) to a Mission League victory at Louisville. Teammate Jemma Santos added a run-scoring double.

Stephanie Acosta had a run-scoring triple in the second for the Knights (9-10, 3-3).

Calabasas 6, Moorpark 3--Keyna Bell doubled in Melissa Krolik with the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning, and the Coyotes (10-4, 8-3) closed to within one game of the front-running Musketeers (9-2) in a Frontier League game at Moorpark.

Krolik (10-4) went the distance and had four hits, driving in a pair of runs.

Moorpark, which scored two unearned runs in the seventh to tie the game, got two hits each from Mindy Penrod and Tina Milburn.

Canyon 14, Burroughs 1--Kassi Le Masters had three hits, including a grand slam and a triple, and drove in eight runs in a Foothill League game at Canyon.

Lisa Villasenor (4-4) went the distance for the Cowboys, allowing only a fifth-inning single by Holly Squire.

Lindsay Greblo had two hits, including a home run, and Tammy Hughes added a triple and three RBIs for the Cowboys (9-10, 3-3).

St. Genevieve 7, Providence 0--Stacy Chapman (5-5) threw a no-hitter, striking out 17 and walking four, to lead the Valiants (8-6) to a nonleague victory at Providence.

Chapman has 90 strikeouts in 61 innings.

Joanne Rosales had a single and a double with three RBIs for the Valiants.

Rio Mesa 7, Oxnard 0--The Spartans’ Cindy Almanza hit a three-run home run in the third inning and had a run-scoring triple in the seventh as Rio Mesa (8-10, 7-3) beat the Yellowjackets (4-13, 1-9) in a Channel League game at Oxnard.

Sonya Ortiz took the loss for Oxnard.
