HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Hart Slaps Burbank With High-Five, 19-4

Hart High played home run derby Friday, hitting five home runs in a 19-4 Foothill League victory at Burbank.

Josh Weitzman led a 20-hit attack with two homers, without nobody on in the fourth inning and a two-run blast in the fifth. Weitzman, who has four home runs this season, had three hits and four runs batted in.

Mike Bland, Brian Baron and Luis Sanchez also homered for Hart (17-7, 10-1).

Bland hit a solo homer in the third, his third of the season. Four batters later, Baron knocked a three-run homer, his fourth.

Sanchez added a three-run homer in the second, his fifth.

Burbank is 7-13-1, 4-7.

Calabasas 8, Malibu 0--Billy Hoover, making his first start of the season, and Taylor Hirose combined on a no-hitter for the Coyotes (21-0, 13-0) in a Frontier League game at Calabasas.

Hoover (1-0) went five innings, striking out eight and walking four, and also had two hits, driving in a pair of runs.

Brett Niles hit a three-run home run, and Mike Melucci added two hits for the Coyotes.

The Sharks are 0-19, 0-13.

Nordhoff 9, Santa Paula 6--Mike Gardia had three hits, including a three-run home run to highlight a seven-run fourth inning for the Rangers (9-10, 6-7) in a Frontier League game at Santa Paula.

Willie Zavala and Bobby Cota each had two hits for Santa Paula (11-8, 8-5).

Santa Clara 5, Moorpark 3--Hank Edwards (3-2), who had seven strikeouts, hit a two-run single in the sixth and the Saints (8-12, 6-7) beat the Musketeers (8-12, 6-7) in a Frontier League game at Santa Clara.

Andy Maciel, who had two hits and stole two bases, hit a run-scoring single to tie it for Santa Clara after Moorpark took a 3-2 lead with an unearned run in the fifth.

Chaminade 7, Notre Dame 6--Vince Kolbe’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted the Eagles (13-9, 6-5) to their sixth consecutive victory in a Mission League game at Pierce College.

Pinch-runner Chris Gray scored the winning run after replacing Ryan Hamill, who tripled with one out.

Notre Dame (4-5-1, 10-9-1) scored three runs in the top of the seventh to tie the score. Jorge Piedra hit a two-run triple and came home on an overthrow.

St. Bonaventure 7, Fillmore 2--Jake Brown had two hits, including a run-scoring double, and also pitched three innings to earn his third save as the Seraphs (9-7, 5-5) clinched a playoff spot in a Tri-Valley League game.

Camarillo 6, Newbury Park 3--Joe Borchard had two hits and two RBIs and Rodell Besamparo had two hits and scored twice for the Scorpions (16-8, 7-5) in a Marmonte League game at Newbury Park.

Mike Campos had two hits for Newbury Park (7-16, 3-9).

San Marcos 10, Rio Mesa 8--San Marcos scored twice in the seventh inning of a Channel League game at Rio Mesa. The Royals (11-9, 6-6) collected five hits in the inning.

Steve Arneson had four hits and three RBIs for Rio Mesa (15-6, 8-4). Albert Ambriz and Vince Roman each had three hits.

Crespi 5, Harvard-Westlake 0--Barry Matthews (4-3) scattered three singles and struck out six, and Christian Dempsey had two hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Celts (10-14, 6-4) in a Mission League game at Crespi.

Ray Munoz added two hits for Crespi.

Alemany 9, Loyola 6--Robbie Rehfeld’s two-run double highlighted a four-run sixth inning as host Alemany clinched the Mission League title.

Gus Lira went three for three with two doubles and two RBIs for the Indians (14-9, 9-1).

Thousand Oaks 8, Agoura 1--Eric Soliz hit a three-run double and a sacrifice fly for the Lancers (16-8, 8-4), who benefited from 11 walks in a Marmonte League game at Thousand Oaks.

Tim Baron (3-3) pitched a four-hitter and struck out eight.

Oxnard 18, Santa Barbara 17--Charles Erving got the game-winning hit in the seventh after Jason McAulisse’s bases-loaded triple tied it for the Yellowjackets (6-15, 2-10) in a Channel League game at Oxnard.

Adrian Carrillo went three for three, walked twice, scored four runs and had four RBIs for Oxnard.

Campbell Hall 12, Pacific Hills 5--The Vikings capitalized on four unearned runs in a Delphic League game at Campbell Hall.

Helemanu Wallace hit a two-run triple in the third and Brian Kriegler doubled and had two RBIs for Campbell Hall (10-7, 4-4).

La Salle 4, Bell-Jeff 1--Tim Esquival struck out four and gave up an unearned run and six hits for the Lancers (9-9, 7-3) in a Santa Fe League game at Bell-Jeff.

John Sum doubled and had two RBIs.

Paraclete 12, Bishop 4--Dan Berry had a double, a triple and an RBI in a High Desert League game at Paraclete.

Bill Kneifl added a double and a home run for Paraclete (13-7, 7-1).

Viewpoint 30, South Bay Lutheran 9--Derek Kent had three hits and six RBIs for the Patriots in a Heritage League game at South Bay.

Saugus 3, Burroughs 2--Darren Hoevel hit two-run double in the second and David Wilson homered in the third as the Centurions (13-10, 6-5) clinched a playoff berth in a Foothill League game at Burroughs.

Tom Crowther homered in the third for the Indians (8-14-1, 3-7) and Hoevel gave up an unearned run in the fifth.

Quartz Hill 22, Littlerock 8--The Rebels racked up 18 hits against five Lobos pitchers in a Golden League game at Littlerock.

Kyle Goss doubled twice and had four RBIs and Jo-Sean Lyles homered, had four RBIs and scored three times for Quartz Hill (14-5, 5-3).

Ricardo Lopez doubled and had three RBIs for the Lobos (3-5).

Royal 14, Channel Islands 0--Dorian Stitt and Ben Lemos each had two hits and two RBIs for the Highlanders in a Marmonte League game at Royal.

Tom Manos had 12 strikeouts for Royal (16-8, 8-4).

Buena 11, Hueneme 1--Brian Riley hit two home runs for the Bulldogs in a Channel League game at Buena.

Darryl Mundy (1-0) went the distance for Buena (12-9, 5-7).
