Coin flips on Friday decided where several teams will be placed in the Southern Section softball playoff brackets, which will be released by the section office Monday.

Woodbridge (19-9), which tied Irvine for first place in the Sea View League because Irvine was upset in the final game of the season, won a coin flip and will go into the Division II playoffs as the league’s No. 1 team. Irvine (16-9) will go in as the No. 2 team.

Also in Division II, Western (14-11) won a coin flip with Magnolia (15-8-1) for first place in the Orange League, and La Habra (18-7) won a coin flip with Sunny Hills (8-11) for second place in the Freeway League.

In Division V, Calvary Chapel (12-14) lost a coin flip to Ontario Christian (14-4) and will go as the Olympic League’s third-place team.

Other tiebreakers factored into the playoff scenario as well. Trabuco Hills (13-12) tied with San Clemente (19-7) for second place in the South Coast League, but will go into the Division I playoffs as the league’s No. 2 team by virtue of its two victories over San Clemente.

Los Alamitos’ two victories over Fountain Valley (15-13) give the Griffins (18-6) second place in the Sunset League, and Villa Park (16-11) is the third-place team from the Century League--instead of Orange (11-11)--because it beat the first-place team, Foothill, during the season.

Division I is the only division that will have at-large berths, and there are six teams vying for five berths, including Orange, La Quinta (13-10-1) and Mission Viejo (13-13-1).
