SEASON AT A GLANCE: Arce, the 1994 state Division II cross-country champion, leads the region in the 1,600 meters (4 minutes 12.05 seconds) and ranks second in the 3,200 (9:08.99).

WEEK AT A GLANCE: Arce won the 1,600 (4:12.05) and the 3,200 (9:09.73) in the Southern Section Division I championships at Cerritos College on Saturday. He’ll run in both events in Friday’s Southern Section Masters Meet at Cerritos and will probably double in the State championships. “The recovery has been all right,” Arce said of the double. “And since this is my senior year, I want to go for it and see what happens. I feel I can run faster in the 1,600.”
