Lee, Sunny Hills Set for Southern California Championships

Sunny Hills’ Jenny Lee will defend her CIF-Southern California Golf Assn. girls’ individual title this afternoon at Bernardo Heights Country Club in San Diego, but first she has to take care of some other business.

This morning she and her team will tee off as the Lancers try to improve on last year’s fifth-place finish. For the second consecutive year, Lee will be the only girl playing in the team competition.

Southern Section champion Valencia joins Sunny Hills in the team competition.

The boys’ individual championship, which also will be decided in the morning round, features many players with strong credentials. One foursome includes defending champion Charley Hoffman of Poway, Torrance’s Ted Oh, who won the Southern Section title in 1992, Sunny Hills’ Terry Noe, the defending U.S. Junior Amateur champion, and Granada Hills’ Darren Angel, three-time City champion.
