Cal State Northridge’s football program received a boost with the oral commitments of three players who also plan to run track.

Bryant Eubanks, a 5-foot-9, 160-pound cornerback and wide receiver Steve Forte, 5-8, 156, from El Camino High in Oceanside, will add speed to the Matadors’ secondary.

Eubanks and Forte were finalists in this month’s State track and field championships at Cerritos College.

Eubanks finished sixth in the 100 meters and has a best of 10.71 seconds. Forte has a best of 14.25 in the 110 high hurdles, but false-started in the final of the State meet.

Ryan Jones, a 6-2, 175-pound All-City Section 3-A Division wide receiver from North Hollywood High, also made an oral commitment to Northridge. Jones won the City title in the 110 highs and placed second in the 300 intermediates.

Baldwin said former CSUN running back Mike Kane will be hired as a part-time assistant pending administrative approval. Baldwin said he is close to getting Leroy Irvin as defensive backs coach.
