LOCAL NOTES : Van Hook Leaving Calvary Chapel for Cerritos High

Kris Van Hook has resigned as football coach and athletic director at Calvary Chapel. Van Hook will become offensive coordinator and a physical education instructor at Cerritos High.

Joe Walters, baseball coach at Calvary Chapel, will become football coach and athletic director. He’ll continue to coach baseball.

The school also is looking for a new track coach. Troy Haines, who coached track last season, will concentrate on coaching football.

Calvary Chapel’s Chance King has signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Southern California College, Calvary Chapel Athletic Director Joe Walters said Friday.

King, a catcher, was a two-year starter, helped the Eagles reach Southern Section Division V championship games the last two seasons. King hit .330 last season and Calvary Chapel won the section title.
