PREP FOOTBALL ’95 / HIGH DESERT LEAGUE : CITY SECTION

Share

Rosamond and Bishop, traditionally the best teams in the league, should again challenge for the championship. But Coach Steve Hagerty is introducing Paraclete as “home of the 1995 High Desert League champions” in his office voice-mail greeting. “We’re not predicting,” Hagerty said. “We’re thinking positively.”. . .Hagerty, who begins his fourth season with the Spirits, is trying to raise expectations for a team that in 1994 reached the playoffs for the first time in 11 seasons, losing to Serrano, 31-7, in the first round of Division X. . . . With 36 players and nine returning starters, Paraclete hopes to upend Rosamond or Bishop, which had only 19 players last year--17 of whom return. . . .The nucleus of the Spirits includes All-Southern Section receiver Jesse Loa, a junior, and three seniors who last year were all-league--tight end John Dagata, linebacker Ian Savage and quarterback Ben Joyce.
