PREP EXTRA: ORANGE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL : Fountain Valley Uses Offense, Defense to Punish Ocean View

Fountain Valley used a balanced offensive attack and a stifling defense to rout Ocean View, 48-0, in a nonleague game Friday night at Huntington Beach High School.

The Barons (1-1) led at halftime, 34-0, having limited Ocean View to minus-2 yards in total offense.

“Things were working most of the time on all cylinders,” Fountain Valley Coach George Berg said.

Baron quarterback Mitch Ryerson threw three touchdown passes to Joey Vazquez, all in the first half.

The senior completed eight of 15 passes for 182 yards.

Vazquez’s first touchdown, a 66-yard run, came on the opening play from scrimmage.

After Yamile Fernandez ran two yards for a touchdown, Vazquez scored on a 34-yard pass play.

Fernandez scored again on a two-yard run and Ryerson finished the scoring with a 22-yard touchdown pass to Vazquez. Vazquez, a senior, caught three passes for 122 yards.
