From Associated Press

ESPN and Churchill Downs Inc. announced Friday that they have reached a multi-year agreement that will provide expanded, in-depth coverage of the events leading up to the Kentucky Derby.

Beginning next year, ESPN and ESPN2 will present 15 hours of live Derby event coverage over four days (May 1-4)--five hours on ESPN and 10 hours on ESPN2--including the post position draw, the Kentucky Oaks, specials at and around Churchill Downs and preview and wrap-up shows.

This programming will complement ABC’s coverage of the race, the first leg of the Triple Crown.

To accommodate the increased TV coverage, the Kentucky Derby post position draw will be held on the Wednesday evening before the race instead of the following morning.

The draw will also be moved from the Derby museum to the Churchill Downs Sports Spectrum, a simulcast wagering facility seven miles from the track.
