The Dana Hills girls’ cross-country team, which won the varsity Division I title at last weekend’s Woodbridge Invitational, will try to make it two in a row Saturday at the Laguna Hills Invitational, which begins at 7:40 a.m. on the school’s campus. It’s one of the day’s four scheduled invitationals.

The La Mirada Invitational, which features top boys’ teams from Katella, Huntington Beach and Mater Dei, begins at 8 a.m. at La Mirada Park.

The Sonora Invitational, featuring more than 750 athletes from 30 schools, begins at 7:15 a.m. at Carbon Canyon Park in Brea. Estancia plays host to Rancho Alamitos and Cerritos Gahr in the Beach Cities Invitational, which takes place at 4 p.m. at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa.

Among the top girls’ teams participating at Laguna Hills are Los Alamitos, ranked second in the Orange County sportswriters’ rankings, Esperanza (third), Irvine (fifth), El Toro (sixth) and Santa Ana Valley (10th). Dana Hills is ranked fourth. The favorite is Thousand Oaks, which is ranked the top team in the country by Harrier Magazine.
