Thousand Oaks High assumed the role of charitable host in the first half, but shut out Franklin in the second half to beat the Panthers, 27-13, Friday in a nonleague game.

The Lancers (2-1) capitalized on interceptions by Jeff Feiereisen and Jim Ange in the third quarter, both of which set up scoring drives.

The Lancers took an early lead, driving 74 yards in eight plays on their first possession and scoring on an 11-yard pass from Scott McEwan to Burrett Grindle.

The Lancers fumbled on four consecutive possessions and trailed, 13-7, at halftime.

Brandon Jackson, who had 190 yards in 17 carries, bolted 65 yards for a touchdown on the Lancers’ first play of the third quarter.

The touchdown was set up by Feiereisen’s interception, which stopped a drive by Franklin (2-1).

On its next possession, McEwan followed an interception by Ange with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Ange, capping a 56-yard drive.

McEwan completed eight of 11 passes for 126 yards and two touchdowns.

Franklin’s Oscar Canela had 103 yards in 18 carries.
