Share

Southern California Christian overcame some mistakes to beat San Diego Francis Parker, 29-15, Friday night at SCC.

The SCC seemed to have control at times but continually let Francis Parker hang around. Jason Piacenza led the Flames with 144 yards in nine carries. David Enda contributed 139 yards in 17 carries.

The Flames got two touchdowns from Piacenza on 20- and 59-yard runs. The 59-yard run came early in the third quarter to give SCC a 29-8 lead. But Francis Parker quickly responded. Charles Abdelnour’s one-yard touchdown run pulled the Lancers back to within 29-15.

“I’m very disappointed in that we mentally self-destructed, not physically, just mentally,” SCC Coach Darin Owens said.

Although SCC could not put Francis Parker away, it did come up with enough defense in key situations to hold on.

After two consecutive offsides penalties and a facemask penalty put Francis Parker at the SCC 30, the Flames were able to keep Parker from scoring.
