Damien 31, Highland 14--The Bulldogs (1-2) tied the game one minute before halftime on a 99-yard kickoff return by Norris Theus, but Highland was held scoreless in the second half of a nonleague game at Damien.

Theus rushed for 71 yards in eight carries. Quarterback Camy Smith completed three of 11 for 18 in place of injured starter David Kelly. Kelly suffered a concussion in last week’s game against Hanford, but is expected to return next week.

Chris Colvin led the Spartans (2-1) with 112 yards in 12 carries and had a 31-yard touchdown run. Chris Resendez completed eight of 15 for 77 yards, threw a touchdown and had a four-yard touchdown run.
