Czernek Passes Lift Newbury Park, 42-18

Chris Czernek threw four touchdown passes and Brock Diediker rushed for 147 yards in 14 carries and scored once as Newbury Park High remained unbeaten with a 42-18 Marmonte League victory Friday night over Camarillo.

Czernek (21 of 36 for 321 yards) threw a pair of first-quarter touchdown passes, connecting from 21 yards with Eddie Patterson (six catches, 82 yards, two touchdowns) and from 18 yards with DaJuan Hawkins (two catches, 37 yards).

Diediker scored on a four-yard run before Shawn Nakamura booted a 34-yard field goal for Camarillo to cut the Panther lead to 21-3 just before halftime.

Newbury Park (9-0, 6-0 in league play) built its lead to 35-3 midway through the fourth quarter on a six-yard touchdown pass by Czernek to Justin Vint (eight receptions, 107 yards) and a four-yard scoring run by Garrett Hobba.

Camarillo (4-5, 3-3) added two touchdowns in a 29-second span on a pair of touchdown passes from Joe Borchard to Mike Anger.

Borchard first tossed a 17-yard touchdown pass to Anger, and after the Scorpions recovered an onside kick, Borchard hit Anger on a 49-yard scoring pass play.

Borchard completed 19 of 35 for 267 yards with three interceptions. Anger had nine receptions for 160 yards.

The Panthers piled up 505 yards.
