Santa Barbara 21, Ventura 0--The Cougars (5-5, 4-3) failed in a bid to make the playoffs by losing at Santa Barbara.

Ventura’s Jeramie Jackson, filling in for the injured Abundio Marin, rushed for 86 yards in 12 carries. Jackson also had two receptions for 25 yards.

Ventura quarterback Kyle Schommer was sacked five times for minus-23 yards. He threw three interceptions, but completed 14 of 33 for 157 yards.

Jeff Russell had eight receptions for 88 yards for the Cougars, who trailed, 7-0, at halftime.

Ventura held Santa Barbara (9-1, 7-0) to minus seven yards rushing, but quarterback Danny Nunez passed for 244 yards, completing 18 of 28. Nunez tossed a pair of touchdowns to Phillip Pipersburg (four catches, 106 yards).
