Cal Gets Berth in Water Polo
California gained an automatic berth into the NCAA water polo tournament with a 9-6 victory Sunday over UCLA in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championship at Newport Beach.
The Bears (19-6) were led by Pat Cochran’s four goals and goalie Toby Dommer’s 10 saves.
California, which has won 11 NCAA titles, will represent the MPSF at the NCAA Final Four next weekend at Stanford, along with Massachusetts and UC San Diego. The fourth at-large bid will be selected by the NCAA.
