COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Pomona Pitzer Edges Concordia in Basketball

Despite four players scoring in double figures, Concordia lost to Pomona Pitzer, 69-67, in a nonconference men’s basketball game Tuesday at Concordia.

Pharoah Jones scored 17, Danny Barajas 15 and Jeff Putnam and Rick Haywood each had 12 for Concordia (4-4), which led, 33-29, at the half. Putnam also had a game-high 13 rebounds.

Derrick Quinet had 13 and Travis Greer and Erik Lund added 10 each for Pomona Pitzer (4-2), which outscored Concordia, 40-34, in the second half.

In a nonconference women’s basketball game:

Loyola Marymount 61, Cal State Fullerton 45--Kari Kron had 11 points and Julia Adams had 10 rebounds for host Cal State Fullerton (0-4). Lianne Ishikawa had 15 for Loyola Marymount (3-1), which has won three in a row.
