COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Orange Coast Gets Plenty of Support to Defeat Cerritos

Six players scored in double figures as Orange Coast hammered Cerritos, 104-46, in a nonconference women’s basketball game Wednesday at OCC.

Dianne Pulido was seven of 10 from the field and finished with a team-high 22 points. Jamie Shine had 21 points, Kathleen Kelly and Tina Afan each scored 17. Also scoring for the Pirates (8-2) were Adrienne Botana with 15 and Monica Geraci with 10.

Orange Coast shot 59% (41 of 69) and Cerritos made 40% (21 of 53) of its shots. Shine and Kelly each had 10 rebounds and Afan made eight assists.

Tanisha Coleman had 12 points for Cerritos (9-2).

In the Riverside Holiday men’s tournament:

Golden West 72, Southwestern 58--Lydell Hill scored 17 points as Golden West (3-5) rallied after being down by as many as 10 early in the first half. Rod Scheuerman added 16 for the Rustlers, who will play Pasadena in a quarterfinal at 3 p.m. today.

In the other quarterfinal games: Irvine Valley meets San Bernardino at 1 p.m. Imperial Valley takes on Mt. San Jacinto at 5 and Riverside goes against San Diego Mesa at 7.

Pasadena 77, Cypress 69--Jason Krauss scored 21 points for Cypress (6-4), which was outscored by four in each half. Cypress plays Southwestern in a consolation game at 4 p.m. today.
