Shaterry Danley, a 5-foot-11 forward at Fremont High, was voted the most valuable player at the Fairfax High tournament last week after averaging 25 points, 15 rebounds and four blocked shots for the three-game event. She scored 30 points in a morning quarterfinal and 28 points in an afternoon semifinal. She had 16 rebounds in a 68-58 victory over Manual Arts for the championship.

Dion Bailey led West Covina High to a victory over Pomona in the finals of the Chino Christmas Classic and earned the tournament’s most-valuable-player award in the process. Bailey, a three-year letterman, averaged 25 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the tournament and, in a semifinal victory over top-seeded Lynwood, the 6-foot-3 guard scored 32 points.
