Agoura’s Silvers Commits to Play at Washington

Agoura High’s Elliot Silvers, a 6-foot-7, 315-pound tackle, has committed to Washington. Silvers was the Marmonte League lineman of the year.
Basketball
Joe Penberthy, a senior point guard at Fresno Hoover High, has signed a letter of intent with The Master’s College, an NAIA school.
Penberthy, the brother of Master’s junior point guard Mike Penberthy, is averaging 12.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
Ventura College (16-2) has dropped from the top spot to third in the junior college men’s state poll, behind San Jose (18-1) and MiraCosta (15-2). Antelope Valley (15-5) is ranked 11th and Valley (13-7) is 19th.
The Ventura (17-0) women’s team remains No. 1 in the state. Valley (13-8) is 19th.
A clinic for girls in sixth through ninth grades is scheduled at Cal State Northridge today at 6 p.m. Information: 818-885-3995.
Soccer
Buena High’s Kristina Quiroz has committed to Arizona.
