Santiago needed to win both its games last week to get an automatic berth in the playoffs, and Ching-Sam helped make sure that happened. She had 33 points and 15 rebounds Tuesday in a 61-44 victory over Los Amigos and 26 points and 11 rebounds in a 53-51 victory over Rancho Alamitos. Before the week, she had been averaging 16.7 points and 10.7 rebounds. “She’s played well all year,” Santiago Coach Ron Heusser said. “It’s just that she played exceptionally well in these two games.”

* Edison, senior. Scored 18 points, including an 18-foot baseline jumper with two seconds left, in a 48-46 victory over Esperanza to wrap up a Sunset League co-championship. Scored 26 in a 66-57 victory over Marina.

* La Habra, senior. Scored a goal in a 2-1 victory over Sonora and a goal in overtime to beat Troy, 1-0, and win the Freeway League championship.

Chandra King

* Capistrano Valley, freshman. Scored three goals in the second half in the No. 4 Cougars’ 4-1 South Coast League victory over No. 2 Mater Dei.

Andrea Sievers

* Los Alamitos, senior. Scored two goals in the Griffins’ 4-1 Sunset League victory over Marina, giving them the Sunset League title. Also assisted on the winning goal in a 3-2 victory over Huntington Beach.
