Palacio’s 17 points, Peninsula’s Run Beat LB Wilson
Peninsula, top-seeded in Division I-AA of the Southern Section girls basketball tournament, went on a 14-0 run to open the second half Wednesday night and coast to a 45-24 victory over Long Beach Wilson.
Eden Palacio had 17 points and six rebounds for Peninsula (27-1), which led only 19-14 at halftime before taking control against Wilson (13-11).
Daniela Garreton had 10 points and 12 rebounds in a reserve role for the Panthers.
Fountain Valley 72, Rialto Eisenhower 49--Nicole Strange scored 25 points and Jennifer Ludwicki added 23 for Fountain Valley in a Division I-AA playoff game at Eisenhower.
Mater Dei 87, Westminster 75--Melody Peterson scored 27 points and Margaret Hollis added 26 to lead Mater Dei to a Division I-A victory.
Ocean View 57, El Dorado 48--Andrea Tuilosega scored 16 points to lead the Seahawks (21-7) to a Division II-A quarterfinal victory. Heather Cunningham had 18 points and 14 rebounds for El Dorado (19-6).
Village Christian 80, Orange Lutheran 43--Lindy James made eight three-point baskets and scored 37 points to lead Village Christian (18-7) to a IV-A quarterfinal victory.
CITY SECTION
Banning 56, Crenshaw 55--Kenya Mills made a basket with 21 seconds to play for eighth-seeded Banning, which upset top-seeded Crenshaw in a Division 4-A quarterfinal. Nicole Perkins added 24 points for Banning.
