Key to the game--These teams have played each other for the section title the past three years, with Mater Dei winning last year, 57-53. Buena Coach Joe Vaughan’s career record (503-51) is the state’s best, and the Bulldogs went through the playoffs despite the absence of injured all-everything guard Eboni Conley. With Conley out, Mater Dei hopes to force an up-tempo game, create turnovers with its press and attack on offense. If it becomes a half-court game, the Monarchs play right into Buena’s hands--and lose.
