The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team ended Coach Michael Abraham’s first season with a 73-57 loss to Southern Utah in the semifinals of the American West Conference tournament Friday at Matador Gym.

Abraham, whose team lost to the Thunderbirds by 30 or more points in each of the team’s two regular-season meetings, was pleased with the Matadors’ effort.

“Although we never threatened to win, we never allowed ourselves to be routed,” he said.

Northridge, which finished 5-22 after going 1-26 last season, was led by Maureen Batiste with 14 points.
