PREP GIRLS’ BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

San Luis Obispo Mission Prep 48, Covina Western Christian 34--Anna-Lisa Epperson scored 22 points and Mary Mott added 10 for Mission Prep (21-2) in the Southern Section V-AA final at Azusa Pacific University.

Pilgrim 41, Cornerstone Christian 39--Tiffany Tomvoy, a 5-foot reserve freshman guard, made her only appearance of the game with 4.4 seconds left and made a 12-foot jump shot to win the Southern Section V-A championship at the Pyramid.

With the score tied, 39-39, Cornerstone’s Karen Breshears committed a lane violation on her missed free throw. Pilgrim gained possession and inbounded to Tomvoy, who drove to the key undefended before shooting.
