The St. Bernard boys’ and girls’ basketball teams posted easy victories in the first round of the State Southern Regional Division IV tournament Tuesday. The boys defeated Verbum Dei, 92-77, and the girls defeated Coronado of San Diego, 77-35. Tracie Oaks scored 21 for the girls’ team, and Nicole Monette added 18. The Vikings will play at Santa Ynez tonight. In the boys’ game, four St. Bernard players scored in double figures. Daniel Coleman led the team with 22 points and 10 rebounds. The boys play at top-seeded Fresno Washington Union tonight. . . . The surprising run of the Palisades girls’ basketball team ended Tuesday when the Dolphins lost to top-seeded Buena, 62-27, in a Southern Regional Division I game. Palisades advanced to the tournament without its top player, guard Leilani Estavan. . . . The Crossroads boys’ basketball team continues to play well, defeating El Cajon Christian, 75-49, in a Southern Regional Division IV game Tuesday. Kejuan Woods led the team with 26 points, and Baron Davis added 10 points and eight assists. The Roadrunners will host San Diego Lincoln tonight at Brentwood High. . . . Davis’ season will not end in the playoffs. He was one of 10 players selected to play in Mannheim, Germany, with a team of U.S. all-stars from March 30 through April 14.
