Maumausolo Ties CSUN Career RBI Record

Scia Maumausolo tied Cal State Northridge’s career record for runs batted in and Jennifer Richardson threw a no-hitter as the Matadors defeated visiting Iowa State, 6-0, in the first game Wednesday of a nonconference doubleheader that was shortened to 4 1/2 innings because of rain.

Maumausolo, a senior, had an RBI single in the third to give her 141, tying the Matador career record set by Beth Calcante from 1991-94.

Richardson (9-2), a junior, struck out two and walked one as Northridge (16-4) won its sixth game in a row.

Sophomore Chelo Lopez hit a three-run home run in the fourth, her fifth of the year.

Northridge scored its six runs on only three hits. Iowa State committed four errors.

The second game is scheduled for today at 2 p.m.

Cal Lutheran 2, Fontbonne (Mo.) 1--Christina Proffitt of Cal Lutheran threw a five-hitter and scored the game-winning run on an error in the fifth inning in the first game of a nonconference doubleheader at Cal Lutheran.

The second game was postponed because of rain in the second inning. The Regals (13-0) were leading, 2-0, and had the bases loaded with one out.

In the first game, Proffitt (4-0) walked one and had no strikeouts.

Fontbonne (0-1) took a 1-0 lead in the first when Becky Donley doubled home Maria Evans, who had tripled.

Cal Lutheran tied the score in the second when Xochitl Castillo scored on a bases-loaded walk.
