Guidorizzi Pitches Perfect Game
Christy Guidorizzi pitched a perfect game to lead off Chapman’s doubleheader sweep of Fontbonne (Mo.), 3-0 and 8-0, in nonconference play Friday at Hart Park.
Guidorizzi (6-0) struck out 13 and posted her 15th consecutive victory for the Panthers (8-1).
Jessamine Maiben had four hits, including a home run, and four runs batted in the doubleheader for Chapman, and pitched four scoreless innings to earn the victory in game two.
In Big West Conference baseball:
Long Beach State 4, UC Santa Barbara 3--The 49ers scored the winning run in the bottom of ninth. Long Beach State improved to 15-9.
In nonconference men’s tennis:
UC Irvine 5, Wisconsin 2--The doubles team of Steve Tallakson and Cameran Lindee improved to 9-2 overall with a victory in No. 2 doubles for UC Irvine. Junior Marc Tardif at No. 1 and senior Julian Foxon at No. 2 fought three sets to pick up important singles points for the Anteaters.
In the Titan women’s tennis Classic:
CS Fullerton 6, Southern Utah 0--Renee Ivy defeated Southern Utah’s Jill Butler, 6-4, 6-4, as Fullerton won its opening round match. The Titans play Idaho at 1 p.m. today.
In Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball:
Long Beach State 3, Cal State Northridge 1--Martin Wagner had 31 kills and teammate Tom Hoff added 28 to lead Long Beach State over Cal State Northridge, 6-15, 15-12, 17-16, 15-6. Steve Walker had 77 assists for the 49ers (14-4, 9-3).
