From Staff and Wire Reports

The NFL Players Assn. has received a grievance from defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy related to the Seattle Seahawks’ move to Southern California, and one from Sam Adams may follow.

Kennedy has complained that the Seahawks’ moving their training facility and headquarters to the former Rams practice facility in Anaheim has left him without a place to work out in Seattle, the News Tribune of Tacoma said. His contract includes a $200,000 workout bonus.

Adams, also a defensive tackle, reported to the Anaheim facility on Wednesday and has a $100,000 workout bonus. His agent, Angelo Wright, said that the move means he would have to pay about $11,000 in California taxes for training in Anaheim.

The fate of collective bargaining in football, basketball and hockey will be argued before the Supreme Court next Wednesday in a case that could determine whether the sports will have work stoppages in the next few years.

Auto Racing

Tony George could have brought Championship Auto Racing Teams to its knees simply by cutting the costs of racing, says three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Bobby Unser. Instead, because of George’s use of his Indianapolis Motor Speedway as leverage in his fight with CART, he has created a rift that may not heal and the Indy 500 may be the victim, Unser said.

George launched the new Indy Racing League this season in competition with CART, which has scheduled a competing race at Michigan International Speedway.
